Kevin Opsahl, Funeral Director/Owner
Kevin graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1983 with his B.S. in Mortuary Science.
He became a licensed funeral director/embalmer in the state of South Dakota in 1984 and was
licensed in Minnesota in 1985. He earned his South Dakota life insurance agent's license in 1996.
After obtaining his funeral director's license, Kevin worked at the Ray Funeral Chapel in Yankton
until moving to Minneapolis. There he worked at the Hillside Funeral Home and Cemetery for two years
until moving back to Yankton in 1991. He joined the Kostel Funeral Home, with funeral homes in
Yankton, Menno and Tabor, where he worked until purchasing the business from Laddie and Pam
Kostel in 1998.
Kevin and his wife Lisa have three children: Ann, Laura and Alex. Kevin is involved with the
Yankton Morning Optimists, Yankton Elks Lodge #994, Hillcrest Country Club, Yankton Booster Club,
Yankton Band Boosters, Yankton Area Arts Association, Yankton Quarterback Club and Yankton Chamber
of Commerce. He is involved with area youth as a Yankton Youth Soccer coach and has served on
various boards for the United Church of Christ (Congregational). In 2004, he became a 32°
Masion of the Scottish Rite, St. John's Lodge #1 A.F. and A.M. Kevin also serves on the Board of
Directors of the International Order of the Golden Rule (2005-2012) and served as the

Tami Keller, Funeral Director/General Manager
Tami graduated from Northern State University in 1997 with her Associates degree in Science and
from the University of Minnesota with her B.S. in Mortuary Science in 1999. Later that same
year, she became a licensed funeral director/embalmer in the state of South Dakota.
Tami worked at a nursing home in Aberdeen for 11 years as a CNA and physical therapy assistant.
After obtaining her funeral director's license, she fulfilled her apprenticeship at the
Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and has been employed by the firm since October 1999.
She and her husband Dallas are co-owners of K&R Construction. They have three children: Landon,
Lukas and Lainie. Tami is involved with the Yankton Area Ice Association, where she has operated
the concession stand, volunteered at the rink, played women's hockey and spent hours watching her
children play hockey. She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters Willard

Cheryl Anderson, Family Service Counselor
Cheryl graduated from Mount Marty College in 1993 with her B.A. in Social Gerontology and a minor in
Business. She has been licensed as a South Dakota life and health insurance agent since 1996.
Cheryl joined the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home after selling the family business in Menno. She works
as a prearrangement counselor for the Yankton, Menno and Tabor locations. She and her husband Bruce
have two grown children. A member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Menno, Cheryl has served on various
church boards. She is also involved with the Menno American Legion Auxiliary, Menno Community
Club and Menno-Olivet Resources for the Elderly.

Reverand Dr. Paul M. Opsahl, Aftercare
Support Group Counselor
Paul attended Yankton College and the School of Theology, receiving his B.A. in Theology.
He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Hartford Seminary, Hartford, Connecticut. His doctoral
studies were with McCormick Seminary, Chicago, Illinois. He was awarded an honorary degree from
Yankton College, where he has served on the Board of Trustees for over 20 years. Reverend Opsahl
has 40 years of pastoral experience, reflecting his concern and compassion for the people he serves.
Penny S. Gregorio, Office Manager
Penny attended Merrit College in Oakland, California, where she studied Criminal Justice. She acquired
years of experience in bookkeeping and payroll from on-the-job training with various companies,
including a business of her own. In 1997, she relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, where she grew to love
the Midwest. Penny decided to move to Yankton in the summer of 2008 and joined the staff of the
Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home in November of that same year. She has one son: Kenny and two granddaughters:
Krystianha and Savannah.
