 Lorraine Ann Wudel, age 91 of Holly, CO and formerly of Yankton, Parkston, and Rapid City, SD passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Juniper Village Nursing Home, Lamar, CO. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, with Rev. Paul M. Opsahl officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Vernon (Skip) VanDerhule, Ross VanDerhule, Gordon Brown, DJ Sabo, Bob Braunesreither, and Dennis Braunesreither.
Lorraine was born September 25, 1918 in Yankton, SD, to Wilbert and Cecelia (Vollmer) Braunesreither. She was a Cosmetologist and owned Salons in Scotland, Yankton, Parkston, and Rapid City, SD. She was President of the State Board of Cosmetology for 8 years and was Editor and Chief of the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology. She married Melvin Wudel, February 26, 1954 in Yankton. Lorraine was an avid fisherman, golfer, hunter and bridge player. She was a member of South Canyon Lutheran Church in Rapid City and Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton. She attended Lamar Christian Church in Lamar, CO.
Lorraine's memory will be cherished and honored by her daughter Kay Helm James of Yankton, SD, three grandchildren, Kim (Brad)Engsberg of Lamar, CO, Tim James of Springfield, SD, Mark (Sue) James of Andalusia, AL; 7 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, brothers Roy (Gladys) Braunesreither, Ron (Diane) Braunesreither, sister-in-law Gladys (Bud) Braunesreither, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Brian Helm, siblings Wilbert (Bud) Braunesreither, Alma Campbell, Virgil Braunesreither and great granddaughter Tasha Sabo.
