Mary K. Winger, age 82, of Yankton, SD passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at her residence under hospice care. Memorial services will be 7:00 PM, Thursday evening, January 5, 2012 at the Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Yankton, with her son David Dipple officiating. Friends may call beginning at 5:00 PM and continue until service time Thursday evening.
Mary was born on May 8, 1929 to Virgil and Cora Thaxton in Gibsonburg, Sandusky County, Ohio. Mary passed away peacefully at her home on January 1, 2012 in Yankton, South Dakota.
She was one of nine children and was the proud mother of four children, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Mary, also known to many as Bobbie or Katie, loved to be around her children and their families when possible. She especially loved to be with her daughter's dog, Vinnie, and the two became strongly attached, the best of friends.
Many knew her as she worked at McDonalds for eighteen years in Yankton.
She is survived by two sisters, Juanita Neer and Helen Peterson; sons, David Dipple (wife, Debbie, their children: Todd, Chad, Amy, great grandchildren: Ciara, Gavin, Landon) ; Mark Dipple (wife, Rhonda, children: Sean, A.J., Jennifer, great grandchildren: Kelsey, Kathleen, Margaret); daughters, Lori Godwin (husband, Rick, children: Jason, great grandchildren: Luke, Ben); Janice Hanson (along with Keith Zessin, children: Ryan, Bradley, great grandchildren: Cole, Landon, Grace).
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, three brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Avera Sacred Heart Home Care/Hospice.
