Virgil Yardley Wilson was born December 6, 1959 in Denver Colorado to Elizabeth Hinton. He was baptized into the Baptist faith. Virgil attended the Loveland High School through the tenth grade quitting to help his mother.
He had various jobs working on oil rigs in Denver and the following places in Yankton: Stupenagles, List's Landscaping, Cimpl's, Wilson's Trailers, and Alcoa up to the time of his accident. Virgil loved the outdoors, logging and fishing. On August 2, 2003, he married Susan A. Lowe in Winter Park, CO during a Lowe family reunion.
Virgil had a motorcycle accident on August 2, 2004, which left him a quadriplegic. After spending a month or so in ICU at the hospital in Sioux City, IA, he was flown to Craig Rehab Center in Englewood, CO. There he received rehab and was fitted for a motorized wheelchair made special to meet his needs. His wife, Susan spent numerous visits to Craig, where she learned to care for Virgil's needs for nearly 3 1/2 years. Their home in Yankton was sold and they moved out near the Lewis and Clark Lake area for a larger and newer ranch style handicapped equipped home. In January 2005, Susan became Virgil's 24/7 caregiver with the help of all the children, Amy Johnson and Al Fisher until September 1, 2007 when Virgil was placed in the Avera Heritage Home in Wakonda, where he received excellent care. Operating his motorized wheelchair, Virgil was able to get about the nursing home by operating his chair by mouth. Over the years, Virgil was at home and received excellent homecare from his wife, Susan until her health became affected.
Virgil has made many frequent trips back and forth between the Wakonda nursing home and Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, more so this past year or so fighting ulcerations, surgeries, and countless bouts of pneumonia leaving his lungs badly damaged and scarred.
Virgil leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Susan and her son, Dane Lovelace of Yankton; his children: Zackariah of Ft.
