Laura Wenzlaff, age 90, of Yankton, SD passed away at her home Sunday morning, June 12, 2011. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Kingsway Christian Church, Yankton, with Pastor Bob Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories, Yankton, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are grandchildren: Rodger J. Wenzlaff and Marie Wenzlaff, nephews and nieces: Mark Wenzlaff, Paul Wenzlaff, Amy Schramm and Janeane Colman.

Laura was born on February 2, 1921 to Noah and Loretta (Foreman) Hebert in Southwest, Louisiana. She married Verlin Wenzlaff on July 19, 1946 and adopted Rodger in June 1957 and lived in Yankton, SD. She sold House-of-Stewart's Cosmetics and helped Verlin manage the Broadway Conoco Station. In 1963 they bought Pearson's Corner, a small country store northeast of Yankton. In 1970, they moved onto a small farm, raised pigs, Laura named each one. In 1981 they moved back to Yankton and together they managed Orchard Square Apartments. Camping and fishing became their favorite past time. Laura loved raising and caring for dogs; she was a lifetime member of the Yankton Antique Auto Club,

She will be missed by her son, Rodger and his wife, Mary (Olesen) of Yankton, SD; grandchildren: Rodger Joe (Jeannie) of Tampa, FL and Marie of Iowa City, IA; great-grandchildren: Alisha and Samantha; brother-in-law and his wife, Duane and Donna Wenzlaff of Yankton, SD; brothers and sisters: Doug Hebert, Harley (Margie) Hebert, Jake (Janice) Hebert, and Frances Harville, all of Lake Charles, LA and Nick Hebert of Langley, WA; several nieces and nephews and best friend, Tipper.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Ed and Don, and sister, Nell.
