Joyce A. Verba of Fort Collins, CO - formerly of Tabor, SD passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 with her family present from kidney failure. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Tabor, with Msgr. Carlton Hermann officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, Tabor, SD. Visitations will be 5 to 7 PM, Monday, at the Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Tabor, with a wake service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the services at the chapel.
Joyce was born on June 23 1928 in Midland, SD to Albert & Emma (Weisser) Miller. Joyce was the youngest of four children - Virginia, Minor and Daryl. As a young girl Joyce lived in Eastern Iowa on a farm outside Calamas, IA. In 1939 the family moved to a farm outside of Tyndall, SD where Joyce attended school graduating in 1946. Joyce married Romaine Verba of Dante, SD in 1948 and they lived in Dante until 1967. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2011. They had two children, Dennis and Wayne. Joyce worked for Dale Electronics from 1967 - 1986 when a car accident left her unable to work. Joyce was well known for being a great baker and a good cook.
Joyce will be missed by her surviving family - son Dennis (Kerrie), Ft Collins, CO, granddaughter Jaslynne (Patrick Rivera), great granddaughter Mariah Rivera, Ft. Collins, grandson Jason (Leslie), Indianola, IA, great granddaughter Libbie, Indianola, IA. Son Wayne (Jackie) of CA, granddaughter Whitney and great grandkids Sam, Emerson, Axl, William and Hannah of OH, sister Virginia Nepadal, Yankton, SD, sister-in-law Lita Miller, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband Romaine, brothers Daryl and Minor.
