 Ella Ulmer, age 98 of Menno passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church in Menno, SD with Rev. Brad Danielson officiating. Burial will be in the Menno cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Aisenbrey-Kostel Funeral Home in Menno with the family present from 7-8 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Sarah Simpson, Jeff Simpson, Melissa Hansen, Katie Hansen, Molly Knutson, Chad Knutson, and Maggie Hansen.
Ella was born September 30, 1909 to Karl and Marie (Mutchelknaus) Delzer in rural Freeman, SD. She was baptized on December 12, 1909 at the Johannasdal Reformed Church in Freeman, SD and confirmed at the Kassel Church Reformed in Menno, SD on June 5, 1925. On June 15th, 1927, Ella was united in marriage to Gilbert Ulmer. They farmed in the Menno area all their life until 1981 when they moved into Menno. She enjoyed her garden and flowers especially African Violets.
Ella's memory will always be cherished by her two grandchildren: Ronnie Ulmer of Moorcroft, WY and Carol (Roger) Hansen of Irene, SD; her daughter-in-law, Gertrude (Allen) Andersh of Yankton, SD; seven great granddaughters, and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, her son, Dowean, her brothers: Robert, Albert, Ted, Christ, Ben, Eddie, Fred, and LeRoy, and her sisters: Ida Surutszki and Annette Delzer.
