Vernon was born May 23, 1920 to Albert and Elizabeth (Goeden) Tramp near Crofton, NE. He attained the age of 91 years 4 months 21 days. He attended school in Menominee. Vernon married Lorraine Schroeder on June 4, 1947 in Menominee. He spent his entire life farming the land he loved northeast of Crofton. He was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Church in Menominee where he served as a trustee and a willing servant. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards and baseball. His true passions were his family and his faith. Vernon was best known for his generous spirit, honesty, work ethic and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine from Yankton, twelve children and their spouses, Verona Bedrous of Moreno Valley, CA, Mary Jane Heine of Vermillion, SD, Reynold (Susan) of Crofton, Lavonne (Jack) Bierle, Boise, ID, Merle (Sue) of Crofton, Jan (Bill) Hesse of Yankton, SD, Joan (Sid) Kollars of Norfolk, NE, Bill (Dawn Ann) of Miles City, MT, Rodney (DeeDee) of Crofton, Kay (Scott) Tweedy of Castle Rock, CO, Leanne (Jody) Wendte of Crofton, and Bert (Pam) of Crofton; 39 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters Pauline Gobel of Banks, OR and Caroline Mueller of South Yankton, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Lori Schieffer; sons-in-law Larry Muxfelt and Paul Heine; siblings Marie Kaiser Hegge, Lawrence, Aelred , Laurine, Andrew, George, Richard and his twin, Sister Antoinette.
