 Marjorie P. Sykora, age 80, of Yankton, SD passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 AM, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitations will be 6:30-9:00 PM, Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7 PM rosary followed by a 7:30 scripture service. Lunch will be held after the committal service at the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791, Yankton. Pallbearers will be Doug Mellegard, Doug Lange, Marvin Olnes III, Leon Hanson, Jim Larson and Gerald Rempp.
Marjorie Phyllis was born on January 30, 1929 to Fred and Sarah (Allen) Rempp in Mission Hill, SD and later graduated from Irene High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to George Sykora on February 28, 1948 in Geddes, SD. Marjorie was baptized and confirmed in 1949 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Tabor, SD. She worked over 18 years at the Human Services Center in Yankton and was a member of the Ernest Bowyer VFW Post 791 Ladies Auxiliary, Yankton.
Marjorie's memory will be cherished by her loving and loyal daughter, Shirley Ann (Ivan) Kirgan of Frisco, TX and many supportive nieces and nephews, especially Brenda and Doug Mellegard of Viborg, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, parents, one sister and six brothers.
