 Rita Josephine Stoller, age 87, of Gretna, NE and formerly of Yankton, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Gretna Community Living Center, Gretna, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD, with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Crofton, NE. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, with a rosary at 7:00 PM followed by a Scripture service at 7:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Keith Uhing, Chad Sudbeck, Trent Sudbeck, Sean Foley, Kyle Foley, and Merlyn LaCroix.
Rita was born December 4, 1923 at Crofton, NE to John Henry and Rose (Bruder) Hausman. She grew up in Crofton and attended school at St. Rose until the 8th grade. She worked at Yankton Ag Service until her marriage to Ernest Stoller in April of 1941. She was a homemaker and would work outside the home cleaning homes for others. Ernest died at a young age on September 16, 1970. In 1978 she moved to Tustin, CA and lived there until moving to Tempe, AZ in 1986. Since 1997, Rita has shared her time at her daughter's homes Tucson, AZ or Gretna, NE.
Rita's memory is cherished by her daughters; Sharon Uhing of Gretna, NE and Tamara (David Cathcart) Stoller of Tucson, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Her Brother Lloyd Hausman of Yankton, SD and Sister Katherine Logan of Yankton, SD and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Judith Sudbeck, granddaughter Michelle Sudbeck; Brothers Lawrence and Vern Hausman, and sisters Helen Kiss, Phyllis Lokken, Donna Jensen, and Florence Logan.
