Arthur George Shuttage 74, of Utica, SD, passed away on Monday, August, 22, 2011 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 26, 2011, at St. Agnes (Sigel) Catholic Church, rural Utica with Rev. Lawrence Marbach officiating and concelebrating with Msgr. Carlton Hermann and Rev. Leonard Kayser. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitations will be Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 3:00-9:00 PM, with a 7:00 pm Rosary followed by a video tribute and a 7:30 PM Scripture service, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Heath Shutt, Neal Shutt, Michael Chapman, Robert Bares, Larry Baker, and Bob Wollman.

Arthur was born on January 22, 1937 in Paxton, SD, to Alvin and Florence (Dodds) Shutt, where he had lived through his school age years. This is where he started his farming career.

He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Agnes (Sigel) Catholic Church in rural Utica. On June 2, 1959, he was united in marriage to Frances (Klimisch) at St. Agnes (Sigel) Catholic Church, and to this union three children were born: Daniel, Nancy, and Michael.

He was employed at Yankton Livestock, Stockman's Livestock, and farmed all his life. Arthur did custom bailing and combining. He liked to tinker with machinery, tractors, and cars. He enjoyed family get togethers and could always talk him into playing hand and foot. Art always had time to visit with friends, neighbors, and family. He enjoyed playing hide and seek with his grandkids using a golf cart.

Arthur was a member of St. Agnes (Sigel) Catholic Church.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Frances, of Utica, SD; two sons, Daniel (Twila Stibral) of Yankton, SD, and Michael, of Utica, SD; daughter, Nancy of Phoenix, AZ; one grandchild, Heath, and two step-grandchildren, Erik and Tyler; brothers: Duane (Carol) of LaSalle, CO, Paul (Maureen) of Winner, SD, Robert (Marcene) of Yankton, SD, Jerry (Ginger) of Cheyenne, WY, Jim (Gayla) of Platteville, CO; sister Clara (Ray) Ulmer of Winner, SD, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Cody Shutt.
