Edgar Shelburg, age 77 of Lesterville, SD passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD. No formal services will be held. Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD is in charge of the arrangements.

Edgar Louis Shelburg was born on October 9,1930 to Earl Donald and Lela Fern (Daugherty) Shelburg in Des Moines, IA. He was united in marriage to Maxine L. Miller on November 18, 1949 in Des Moines, IA. Edgar was employed as a tree faller in Oregon. He then became employed as a mechanic and enjoyed working on Indian Motorcycles, Harleys, cars, trucks, and large heavy construction equipment. He also became an expert machinist. He held various jobs as a Millwright worker and then became a superintendent of many jobs including coalmines.

His memory will be cherished by his sons: David (Patty) Shelburg of Yankton, SD, Ronald (Darla) Shelburg of Montrose, SD, Robert (Lisa) Shelburg of Waterloo, IA, Todd Shelburg, of Sioux Falls, SD, and John Shelburg; daughters, Margaret Stewart of Waterloo, IA and Judy Shelburg of Yankton, SD; brothers: Charles Shelburg of Mission Hill, SD, John Shelburg of Yankton, SD, and James Shelburg of Houston, TX; sister, Marlene Shelburg of Yankton, SD; 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lela Shelburg, grandparents, David and Opal Daugherty and Oscar and Lela Shelburg, two brothers, Gerald and Donald Shelburg, one sister, Barbara, one son, Charles, one daughter, Vicky and a granddaughter, Stacey Marie.
