 Marian G. Schiedel, age 97, of Yankton, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Fordyce, NE. Visitations will be 7 to 9 PM, Thursday, at the Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, with a scripture services at 7:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Barry Schiedel, Don Schiedel, Steve Schiedel, Ed Lammers, and Steve Frick.
Marian was born March 12, 1910 at New York, NY and with her mother unable to provide for her, she found herself a passenger on the Orphan Train headed west. She was adopted by her new, very loving parents, John and Anna Lammers of Fordyce, NE. She grew up in the Fordyce area and graduated from Cedar High School at Hartington, NE. She attended Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD. Marian married Harry Schiedel on March 10, 1934 and they made their home in the Fordyce area. She worked for a number of years at Gurneys, Newberrys and Tastee Treat. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons; Gerald (Arlys) of Longwood, FL and Roger (Maija) of Colorado Springs, CO; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
