Vivian Sathe, age 86, of Yankton, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 19, 2009 at Vangen Lutheran Church in Mission Hill, SD with Rev. Lance Lindgren officiating. Burial will be in the Vangen Lutheran Cemetery, Mission Hill. Visitations will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Vivian Doering was born March 23, 1923 in Colome, SD to Ben and Pearl (Sufficool) Doering. She married Marvin Sathe on December 23, 1946. They farmed near Mission Hill, SD until 1981 when they moved to Yankton.
Vivian was known as the Singer Lady because she worked for Singer Sewing Company for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her family and friends.
She is survived by four sons: James (Rosie) Sathe of Idaho Falls, ID, Larry Sathe of Yankton, SD, Bill (Joanie) Sathe of Eaton, CO, Dan (Marcia) Sathe of Irene, SD; one daughter-Marla Sathe of Omaha, NE; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, son, David, an infant son, her parents, two sisters: Pearl Thoene and Maxine Leppala, a granddaughter and a grandson.
