Regina P. Richey, 93, of Yankton, died on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Yankton, with Rev. Dean Trapp officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salem, SD on Wednesday, September, 30, 2009 at approximately 1:30 PM. Visitations will be 6-9 PM, Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Travis Schultz, Johie Lee, Tyler Lee, Marcus Lee, Sheldon Lee and Chandler Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Cassandra Schultz, Reanna Schultz, Shelbi Lee, Madison Lee and Darius Stolz.

Regina Patricia Richey, daughter of John & Maude (Thornton) Healy was born on July 3, 1916 at Canistota, SD. She grew up in the Canistota, SD area and attended grade school at St. Ann's Catholic School in Humbolt, SD. Regina married Marvin Schimmel on July 5, 1934 in Orange City, IA. To this union two daughters were born. The family lived on a farm north of Salem, SD for many years. While on the farm, she enjoyed gardening and served as a leader of the Unityville Homemakers 4H and Extension Club for 25 years. Her first husband Marvin died in 1965. A year later she sold the farm and moved to Canistota, SD where she was employed by the Good Samaritan Home for 20 years. Regina married Donald Richey in 1967. In 1986, she moved to Yankton, SD where her two daughters lived. She joined the First United Methodist Church and The Rebekahs L.A.P.M. In 2001, she moved into Avera Sister James Care Center until her death. She loved to spend time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Regina is survived by her two daughters: Jean Marie and her husband Donald Schultz, Yankton, SD and Donna Lee, Mission Hill, SD; five grandchildren: Rocky (Kristie) Schultz, Yankton, SD, LaRae (Karen) Lee, Volin, SD, Lonny (Shelly) Lee, Volin, SD, Michael Lee and special friend Toni Wolhoy, Yankton, SD, and Robyn (Nathan) Stolz, Yankton, SD; eleven great-grandchildren: Travis Schultz, Cassandra Schultz, Reanna Schultz, Johie Lee, Tyler Lee, Marcus Lee, Shelbi Lee, Sheldon Lee, Chandler Lee, Madison Lee and Darius Stolz; one sister-in-law, Lavon Gstohl, Salem, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maude Healy; first husband, Marvin Schimmel; second husband, Donald Richey; two brothers: Albert Healy and James and wife Joyce Healy; one sister, Leona and husband Hugo Haupt; one son-in-law, Larry Lee; two grandsons: Donald Eugene Schultz, Jr and Veryl Schultz; and two granddaughters: Darla Schultz and Dawn Schultz.
