Bernadette K. "Bernie" Quinlivan, age 82 of Yankton and formerly of Edina, MN passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Avera Yankton Care Center, Yankton. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Edina, MN (corner of Gleason and Valley View Road). Visitations will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday at the church until the time of the service. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton is in charge of the arrangements.

Bernadette K. was born on June 10, 1928 to Martin P. and Isabel (Regan) Kennedy in Minneapolis, MN. Bernie attended high school at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, IL and graduated from Barat College in Lake Forest, IL with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. She returned to Minnesota and worked as a stewardess for Northwest Airlines. She was united in marriage to Dennis J. Quinlivan on June 20, 1952 in Minneapolis, MN. After her marriage to Dennis in 1952, she became a homemaker until her four children were raised. She worked as a volunteer for the Edina School Library then as a part time employee in the library until 1989. After her retirement, Bernie worked as a volunteer at Fairview Hospital. Bernie was a member of St. Patrick's parish in Edina from 1965-2003.

Those who will cherish her memory are her husband, Dennis J. Quinlivan, Yankton, SD (formerly of Edina, MN); son, Ray (Kathy) Quinlivan of Yankton, SD; daughters: Jean Quinlivan of Eden Prairie, MN, Cathy Quinlivan of Rapid City, SD, and Mary Quinlivan of Edina, MN; her grandchildren: Erin (Jesse) Reisz and Michael Quinlivan; great granddaughter, Ada Rose Reisz and her sister, Agnes (Harold) Moore of San Lorenzo, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Martin Kennedy, Jr. and wife Loretta and John Kennedy and sisters: Mary Kennedy and Eleanor Kennedy.

The family requests that memorials be directed to: the donor's choice.
