Clifford A. Quast age 94, of Menno, SD passed away Monday, April 14,2008 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno. A celebration of his long life will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Menno with Rev. Brad Danielson officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30, Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with the family present to greet friends. Burial will be held at the Menno Cemetery with military graveside rites by Rames-Bender American Legion Post #152, Menno. Arrangements are in care of the Aisenbrey-Kostel Funeral Home, Menno.
Clifford was born May 14, 1913 in Menno. He graduate from Menno High School and entered the Army in January 1941. He was a part of the 41St Field Artillery Battalion, Medical Detachment. He was a decorated veteran who served in the Sicily, France, Tunisia and Central Europe Campaigns. After his discharge in June 1945, he married Amanda Wellner on July 1 and started his life in Menno.
Clifford worked over 30 years as the custodian at Menno Public School and was very active in his church and in the choir. He also was a dedicated member of the Menno Legion, Menno Fire Department, and Menno Community Club.
Clifford enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. During the summer months he could be found at Menno Lake camping and teaching many area students how to water ski behind the boat that he and his family made. During his retirement years he and Amanda were able to travel and visit all 50 states and many foreign countries. They would spend their winter months in Arizona with their son, Michael and his family.
Grateful for having shared his love and his life are his children, Michael (Jackie) Quast of Tucson, AZ and Marcia Herr of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Jason, Val, Adam and Jordon; 5 great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Alitha Quast of Menno, SD; Eleanor Quast of Menno, SD; and Clara Ashcraft of Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katherina Quast, his wife Amanda (Wellner) Quast, his sister Elsie Jungman, his brothers, Walter Quast and Randy Quast; and 8 brother and sister in-laws.
