Mary Miller, age 85 of Yankton passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, June 6, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-9 PM, Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7:00 Rosary followed by a video tribute and 7:30 PM Scripture Service. Pallbearers are Frank Fryer, Ethan Beukelman, Samuel Rohl, Dakoda Rohl, Rick Rohl, David Duffy, Steven Duffy and Michael Wetrich. Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Stitch 'N Stew Extension Club.
Mary was born on May 15, 1926 to Thomas & Monica (Connor) Duffy, Jr. in Oldham, SD. She married Vane Miller on June 14, 1952 in Oldham, SD. She taught school in Arlington, Hayti and at Sacred Heart, Webster and Beadle Schools in Yankton, SD. She was co-founder of the Stitch 'N Stew Extension Club and 4-H Leader. She was a member of several bridge clubs, Questers, Woman's Club and Catholic Daughters.
Survivors include daughters, Pamela (Frank) Fryer of Hartford, SD and Paula Rohl of Bellevue, NE; grandsons, Ethan Beukelman, Samuel Rohl, Dakoda Rohl; brother, Bernard (Marlene) Duffy of Lake Preston, SD; sister, Sarah (Donald) Wetrich of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Joan Duffy of Oldham, SD; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, James.
