Carol Larson, age 82, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2007, at the Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD, with Rev. Paul Opsahl officiating. There will be time to greet the family after the services in the Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory fellowship room.
Carol was born December 26, 1924, in Moville, IA, to Armour and Pearl (Davis) Payne. Carol attended Moville schools until 1938 when the family moved to Yankton. She graduated from Yankton High School in 1943.
On April 3, 1948, Carol married Charles Larson, Jr. in Fort Dodge, IA. They have resided in Yankton for the 59 years of their married life. During the 1950's and 60's Carol served as office secretary for the family business, The Larson Brothers Company.
Carol was a member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational). She served as President of the Yankton County Republican Women's Club and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband Charles of Yankton, SD; a daughter, Marty (Hal) McCain of Salina, KS; two granddaughters, Colleen McCain Nelson of Dallas, TX and Carrie J. McCain of West Des Moines, IA; her sister Dessa Taylor and brother, Dick Payne both of Yankton, SD.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mark Larson, a sister Naomi Payne, and a brother, Chester Payne.
