Darlene M. Kunzweiler, age 89 of Yankton, SD passed away early Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Kimball, SD, with Rev. Andrew Swietochowski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Monday, October 24, 2011 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Kimball, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM and Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Todd Kunsweiler, Michael Kunzweiler, David Kunzweiler, Steve Kunzweiler, Bob Kunzweiler, Mark Buckley and Larry Aanenson.
Darlene Margaret Kunzweiler, daughter of Sanford and Adelia (Beeler) Bullis was born May 10, 1922 in Kimball, SD. She grew up and attended school in Kimball, SD. She worked for a family around Kimball.
On October 14, 1940, Darlene was united in marriage to Edward A. Kunzweiler in Kimball, SD. She became a farm wife and farmed with her husband for many years.
Darlene was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church of Kimball and a Catholic Daughter. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking, gardening, traveling, embroidering, hosting the hunters and spending time with family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Jim (Darlene) Kunzweiler of Yankton, SD; her grandchildren, Jackie Kunzweiler of Canistota, SD and Todd (Rhodora) Kunzweiler of San Diego, CA; her great grandson, Michael Kunzweiler of San Diego, CA; her sisters, Doris (Clifford) Cook of Dallas, OR and Donna (Charlie) LaMonta of Naples, FL; 2 step sisters, Bernice Pederson of Yankton, SD and Geneva Wisner of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 sisters-in-law, Marceline Bullis of Waterloo, IA, Shirley Kunzweiler of Marcus, IA and Alvie Bullis of Mitchell, SD; 2 brothers-in-law, Clem (Lucille) Kunzweiler of Kimball, SD, Leo Buckley of Sioux Falls, SD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; 2 sisters, Jean Trainer and Patricia Buckley; 2 brothers, James and Bob Bullis; 2 step brothers, Lloyd and Donald Briggs; 2 step-sisters, Lucille Bennet and Janice Hildebrand.
