William "Bill" Joseph Kuchta, age 53 of Yankton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitations will be from 1-9 PM, Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7 PM rosary followed by a 7:30 PM Scripture Service.

Bill was born on November 2, 1956 to John and Veronica Kuchta in Yankton. He was baptized and confirmed in Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. He went to Sacred Heart Catholic School and was paperboy for the Press and Dakotan. He graduated from Yankton High School. Bill also attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. Bill worked as a DJ for many social events and enjoyed his trips to Pierre for a weekend Walleye Tournament with Dave Walters. He worked many years with the Yankton Press & Dakotan before working for Hy-Vee Foods. One of his favorite pastimes was to play pool with his friends in the Yankton Pool League and attended a pool tournament in Las Vegas. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Yankton Moose Lodge since 1992 where he served as the Prelate (1992-1993), Jr. Governor (1993-1994), Governor (1994-1995), Jr. Past Governor (1996-1997), Trustee (1997-2000), Governor (2003-2004), Administrator and Committee Member (2004-2006).

Bill is survived by his mother, Veronica (Pinkelman) Kuchta of Yankton; brothers: Ronald J. Kuchta of Yankton and Steve J. Kuchta of Yankton and sister, Cynthia M. Kuchta of Dallas, TX; an aunt, Cecelia Spaulding of Detroit, MI, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Kuchta on March 8, 1993, nine uncles, and five aunts.
