Roland A. Kirschenman, age 79, of Menno, SD passed away Wednesday December 5, 2007 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Peace Christian Reformed Church with Rev: Harold Willemstyn officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by Rames-Bender American Legion Post #152. Visitations will be from 4-9 PM, Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Aisenbrey-Kostel Funeral Home in Menno, SD with the family present at 7 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Larry Kirschenman, Glen Kirschenman, Rano Kirschenman, Dale Kirschenman, Terry Kirschenman, and Daryl Kirschenman.

Roland Albert was born on December 4, 1928 to Albert and Sophia (Stoebner) Kirschenman near Menno, SD. On March 3, 1929, Rev. John Bodenman baptized him. He attended Menno Public Schools. Roland received Confirmation Instruction from Rev. Eric Kaempchen and on June 20, 1943, he was confirmed at Salem Reformed Church in Menno. He was drafted into the United States Army and served from August 22, 1951 to August 4, 1953. After serving his country, Roland returned back to the Menno area where he farmed until 1983. He had health problems most of his life and entered the Menno-Olivet Care Center in August 18, 1999.

His memory will be cherished by his brother, Willard (Loretta) Kirschenman of Menno, SD; sister-in-law, Helen Kirschenman of Lakewood, CO; four nephews: Terry Kirschenman of Huxley, IA, Daryl Kirschenman of Wyoming, MN, Clyde Kirschenman of Lakewood, CO, and Gregory Kirschenman of Littleton, CO; three nieces: Gloria Funk of Lino Lakes, MN, Connie Emmert of Ketchikan, AK, and Debra Reynolds of Lakewood, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia who died on May 11, 1971, Albert who died on August 18, 1974, and his brother, Elton who died on September 14, 2005.
