Ellen (Adams) Kessler, age 83, of Yankton, formerly of Vermillion, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Vermillion, SD with Rev. John Fischer officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Vermillion, SD. Visitations will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is in charge of arrangements.
Ellen Kessler was born on May 30, 1928 in Gedesby, Denmark. She married Sigmund Adamczewski on September 10, 1950. In 1959 they immigrated to the United States, settling in rural Vermillion, SD. In 1967 they became US Citizens, changing their name to Adams.
Ellen spent her time at home on the farm. She loved her flowers and garden. Sigmund died in 1987. On June 22, 1991 she married Al Kessler and moved to Yankton. They spent most of their time traveling to all parts of the US. Al died in May 2008.
Ellen is survived by her 3 children: Helena (Tom) Rezac of Omaha, NE, Steve (Rose) Adams of Elk Point, SD, and Gloria Larson of Tucson, AZ; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 1 sister and an infant daughter.
