Dallas L. Hamilton, age 38 of Centerville, passed away on Saturday, October 03, 2009 at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center, Centerville, SD. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Yankton with Rev. Dani Jo Ninke officiating. Burial will be approximately at 12:30 PM in the Carlson Cemetery, rural Viborg, SD. Visitations will be from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Tom Sonichsen, Steve Shutt, Kevin Wiepen, Richard Heimes, Terry Bitsos, Ron Fystro, Chad Sathe, and James Carter.
Dallas Hamilton was born September 27, 1971 in Yankton, SD. Dallas spent a lot of his younger years with his maternal grandparents Elmer and Lilly Johnson on the family farm. He attended Mission Hill School. He had a lot of friends. Dallas and his brother Donavan had a close relationship. Dallas rode horses, which the family had while living on different farms. Dallas also loved dogs and motorcycles. Dallas was loved by everyone. He had a very kind and loving soul. He enjoyed the company of his step-sisters, step-brothers and their families. Dallas worked several construction jobs in California, Arizona, Minnesota, and South Dakota. He liked working on lawnmowers, using his hands and doing things for anyone. His love was being an electrician. He settled in Mission Hill for a few years and worked several jobs in the area. In 2005 he was employed by Fink Electric until he was diagnosed with MS, then he came back to Yankton where he made his home with Donavan and family and with his mom and step-dad until December of 2005 when he entered the School of the Blind where he stayed until April 2006 when he was no longer able to complete his studies. He then moved to assisted living until November when he entered the nursing home. He was a resident of Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD at the time of his death.
Those left to mourn his passing: His mom and step-dad Viola and Donny Heimes, dad and step-mom Don and Virgina Hamilton, brother Donavan Hamilton and family, step-brother's Richard Heimes and family, Chris Carter and family, Calvin Carter and family, James Carter and family, step-sister's Donna and Steve Shutt and family, Kim and Rob Maurer and family, Lisa and Kevin Wiepen and family, Traci and Tom Sonichsen and family, and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. One very special nephew to Dallas was Josh Carter. The staff and residents of Good Samaritan Center and also his hospice family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Elmer and Lilly Johnson, his paternal grandparents Frank and Margaret Hamilton, his step-brother Timothy Hamilton and several aunts and uncles. Dallas loved life. Those blue eyes shined so bright. Blessed by his memory. The family would like to request any monetary memorials be directed to the Dallas Hamilton Trust Fund.
