Angeline M. Guenther, age 84 of Yankton passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Avera Yankton Care Center, Yankton. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 5, 2009 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton with Rev. Paul Josten officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitations will be from 3-9 PM, Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7:00 PM rosary followed by a 7:30 PM scripture service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Angeline Mildred was born on December 15, 1924 to Louis Casper and Rosa Marie (Sudbeck) Arens in Bow Valley, Nebraska. She grew up in Bow Valley, NE and completed school through the eighth grade at St. Peter and Paul Catholic School. She was united in marriage to Armond Guenther on June 25, 1946 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Bow Valley. For 14 years, she worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Antique Auto Club, and Sacred Heart Card Club.

Those who will always cherish her memory are her four sons: Kenneth Guenther, Yankton, SD, David (Leanne) Guenther, Negaunee, MI, Lawrence Guenther, Yankton, SD, and Darrel (Ileana) Guenther of Las Vegas, NV; four daughters: Donna (James) Huff, Allen, TX, Luette (Steve) Obr, Yankton, SD, Ellen (Alton) Walz, Yankton, SD, and Doreen (Tom) Cook, Lawton, IA; 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Benedict (Theresa) Arens, Yankton, SD and Louis Arens, Bow Valley, NE; sisters-in-law: Betty Arens, Kansas City, MO, Shirley Arens, Hartington, NE, Eleanor (Dale) Bergman, Hartington, NE, Verna Pinkelman, Hartington, NE, Dorothy Murray, Hartington, NE and Alice Schumacher, Norfolk, NE; brothers-in-law: James Guenther, Magnet, NE and Ralph Guenther, Yankton, SD, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Armond, her parents, 6 brothers: Anthony, Victor, Edmond, Rudolph, Ralph, and Hugo, 4 sisters: Mary Ann Lenzen, Rosena, Rita, and Ruth Arens, and a grandson, Daniel Guenther.
