Alice F. Goehring, age 96 of Menno passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno with Rev. Michael Hecht officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery. Visitations will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 1, 2011 and continue until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Marvin Goehring, Howard Goehring, Brian Goehring, Terry Goehring, George Goehring, and Merle Goehring.
Alice Goehring was born on May 10, 1915 on the farm north west of Freeman, SD to Henry H. and Elma (Liebl) Goehring. She was baptized by Rev. Rittershaus and in 1930 was confirmed by Rev. John Bodenman at Salem Reformed Church in Menno. She attended Country School through the 8th grade. She loved to travel and went to the Twin Cities doing a few odd jobs. She visited relatives in California and lived in San Antonio, TX for a short time. In 1952, she moved to Yankton and lived in her house until 2001. She then moved into the Menno-Olivet Care Center.
She is survived by her two brothers: Leon H. Goehring of Yankton, SD and Willard (Darlene) Goehring of Menno, SD and ten nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elma Goehring, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold and his wife, Meta Goehring and Harold and his wife, Elsie Goehring, and sister-in-law, Mildred Goehring, and nephew, Lloyd Goehring.
