Duane J. Edelman, age 73 of Geneva, NE and formerly of Yankton, SD passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 Filmore County Hospital in Geneva, NE. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD with Rev. Joe Schulte officiating. Burial will be in the Edelman Cemetery rural, Freeman. Visitations will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Duane Jake Edelman was born November 8, 1936 to Jake and Martha (Hauck) Edelman in Yankton, SD. He attended Grove and Central Grade Schools. He helped his Dad on the family farm north of Yankton. Duane moved to Lincoln, NE in 1956 and worked for the State Hospital in Nebraska. He married Shirley and they had four children: Danny, Dennis, Judy, and Carol. On August 10, 1984, Duane was united in marriage to Arlene Urban. For 28 years, he was employed by Cushman Motors in Lincoln, NE as a machinist.
Those who will cherish his memory are his wife, Arlene Edelman of Geneva, NE and his children, Danny Edelman, Lincoln, NE, Dennis Edelman, Hastings, SD, Judy Edelman, Hastings, NE, and Carol Edelman, Hastings, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
