Beverly Ann DeLozier, age 67 of Yankton, South Dakota, peacefully entered the arms of Jesus Saturday February 6, 2010 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Bev was at her home surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Yankton with Rev. Dave Wildermuth officiating. A lunch will follow the service at the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791, Yankton.
Visitations with family present will be from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Beverly was born June 24, 1942 in Yankton, South Dakota to Lloyd and Nancy (Brewer) Sparby. Lloyd was killed in action on June 16, 1944 in France. He was awarded posthumously the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Bev graduated from Yankton High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to Jerry DeLozier on Saturday, January 11th, 1964 to whom three children were born, Denise, DaNell, and Darrik. Bev worked at various places in Yankton including Dale Electronics, Yankton School Food Services, Home Health Aide, Save U More/HyVee, and eventually retiring from the Human Services Center in July 2009. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Yankton VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed going for car rides, walking, shopping, garage sales, dancing, cooking and was known for her macaroni salad. Bev loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She always had a heart for the less fortunate and once you met her you were her friend for life.
Bev is survived by her husband, Jerry of Yankton, SD; children: Troy and Denise (DeLozier) Telthoester and their children, Logan (15) and Rachel (14) of Savage, MN, Joe and DaNell (DeLozier) Tucker and their children, Hayden(2) and Henry (3 months) of Savage, MN, and Darrik and Theresa (Schurman) DeLozier and their children, Makenzie (10), Meghan (7) and Brooks (1) of Yankton, SD; her sister, Barb Hallum of Lenexa, KS, nephew Bill Jungclaus, KS, and niece Amy Meier of MO; brother, Robert Sparby of Yankton, SD special friends, Ken and Susie Harts of Liberty, MO; her sisters and brothers through marriage are: Delmar and Nyla Eddie of Carroll, NE, Jim and Mary DeLozier of Yankton, SD, Loran and Kathy Tramp of Yankton, SD, Doug and Cheryl DeLozier of Brooksville, FL, Suzie Harmsen of Hecla, SD, Melissa and Randy Nieman of Fremont, NE, Joe Sedlacek of CA, Jim and Shelly Sedlacek of WI, Jerry and Polly Sedlacek of WA, Mary and Bruce Sorensen of AZ, and John Sedlacek of Yankton. Also survived by her mother-in-law, Evelyn Sedlacek of Yankton, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Angels greeting her in Heaven are her mother, Nancy Sparby, her father, Lloyd Sparby, father-in-law, Melvin DeLozier, Grandpa and Grandma Harry and Agnes Sparby, and many other loved family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Yankton Relay For Life/Team Name, Bev's Believers or the American Cancer Society.
