Carrol was born on August 11, 1913 to Louie and Amelia (Thompson) Cook. He attended McFarland Rural School and graduated from Volin High School. Farming was his occupation, living on the same place most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting. He married Esther Olson in 1939. He was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church, Volin, the Masonic Lodge of Wakonda, and the Consistory of Yankton, SD

Carrol is survived by two daughters; Jeannie (Ordell) Gustad of Volin, SD and Heather Cook of Seattle, WA. Four grandsons; six great grandsons; one great granddaughter; and four great great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his son, parents, wife, one sister, and one brother.
