 Ethel E. (Hacecky) Caba, age 83 of Yankton, SD, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Avera Yankton Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton with Rev. Bob Lacey officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton. Visitations will be 5-8 PM, Friday, November 13, 2009 at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton. A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM followed by a 7:30 PM prayer service. Pallbearers will be Ron J. Goeden, Dustin Hacecky, Tyler Hacecky, Jacob Hacecky, Franklin Hacecky, Emily Livingston and Tessa Hacecky.
Ethel was born on June 25, 1925 to August and Sophia (Koenig) Toczek in Yankton. She married Frank Hacecky on April 3, 1945 in Yankton. Following Frank's death, she married Louis Caba on January 31, 1987 in Yankton.
Ethel was the kind of person everyone should be lucky enough to have known. She always had something baked, garden produce to share, African Violets blooming and a crochet project finished or in the works. She had time for all who dropped in for a visit or needed a helping hand. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The memories of her life will be in our hearts always.
She is survived by her sons: David (Bernie) Hacecky of Mission Hill, SD, Duane (Carla) Hacecky of Irene, SD, Dan (Ann) Hacecky of Mission Hill, SD; step-son, Donald Caba of Eden Prairie, MN; daughter, Connie (George) Wathier of Summerville, SC; step-daughter, Elaine (Harry) Lane of Yankton, SD; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; twin sister, Evelyn Vitek Kostal of Yankton, SD; sisters-in-law: Emmy Toczek of Omaha, NE and Arlene Toczek of Jefferson, SD.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hacecky on November 3, 1980; second husband, Louis Caba on April 20, 2006; brothers: Oscar Toczek and Leonard Toczek; sisters: Chara Kaiser, Irene Kozak, Ina Hjelm and grandson, Bret Hacecky on March 5, 2003.
