Patrick was born on July 4, 1968, to Burnell and Mary Bohlmann (McKenna) at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Patrick grew up on a farm near Mayfield Store and attended Cornbelt Country School and the Irene Public School, graduating from Yankton High School in 1986. He graduated from Mount Marty College in 1992 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He worked for several years at Alcoa Extrusions and at Cimpl's for the last 6 years.
Patrick enjoyed raising chickens, playing baseball and cards, reading, fishing, gardening, shooting pool, paint-balling, jet skiing, and most recently snowmobiling. He was an active member of the Yankton County Democratic Party, contributing as a volunteer for their efforts. He took interest in investing in the financial market and always kept current on the market trends. Patrick, referred to as "Uncle P", was also a very generous and giving person, devoting much of his free time to his nieces and nephews, never expecting anything in return. He made countless trips to attend activities and events. Uncle P and great nephew Austin spent a great deal of time riding 4 wheeler and playing tractors. Also, were the shopping trips to buy clothing not only for himself but also for his nieces and nephews, with his favorite store being JC Penney.
Patrick appreciated food very much along with the rest of the family, therefore eating out or grilling out was one of our most common activities.
Patrick was a very intelligent person, always quick to solve a mathematical problem in his head before anyone else could get it done using the calculator. He read the Wall Street Journal daily and subscribed to several magazines including Smart Money, Time and SD Magazine. If you had any questions about trees or plants, you called him.
In November of 2009, Patrick stepped out of his comfort zone and began dating a special lady, Gail Irwin. Patrick and Gail shared many similar interests and enjoyed each other's company. With Patrick's encouragement, Gail also became involved in the political world. They attended numerous political functions together, including the "Drinking Liberally" weekly get together at Ben's Brewing in Yankton. Having a companion to share his time with fulfilled the void in Patrick's life. Pat and Gail planned to wed in the near future, as Pat had recently pronounced his devotion in the form of a ring.
Patrick was preceded in death by his father Burnell and his mother Mary. He will be deeply missed by his fiancé, Gail Irwin; two sisters, Beverly (Faruk) Aganovic of Liberty, MO, and Alice Hight of Viborg, SD; four nephews, Craig (Tara) Bohlman, Tim Hight, Derek Hight, and Zachariah Aganovic; two nieces, Laura Bohlman and Lejla Aganovic; and a great-nephew Austin Bohlman.
